Students pursuing psychology are
required to write article reviews in the course of the semester. However, many

be able to identify the main themes of the source. The summary should include research question,
hypothesis and results in case the researchers of the source conducted a study.
In addition, they should write the
body of the source. Students should
state the strengths and weaknesses of the source. Different sources have limitations. Students should be able to identify them.
They should also determine whether there is need for research in future when
writing the article reviews. Students should determine whether the source adds
to their knowledge on the subject and knowledge of other people. They should
state the application of the findings to their profession when writing the
article reviews. Instructors provide guidelines that students should follow
when writing their article reviews and students should follow them.
Moreover, students should ensure their article reviews are of high
quality. They should ensure the article reviews are free from grammatical
mistakes and spelling mistakes. Therefore,
students should proofread their work before handing in. They should also check for plagiarism before
they submit their article reviews. Grammatical errors and plagiarism affect
students’ performance negatively as students get low grades. Instructors grade
the article reviews in based on originality, grammatical correctness and
following the given instructions. Students who meet the requirements stated above
get good grades unlike students who do not.
Students should also include a reference page when writing article
reviews. The references should be listed in an alphabetical order. They should
also put in text citations when referencing their work. The references used to
write the assignments should be relevant and recent. Most instructors require
their students to use recent sources as they contain information that is valid
and up to date. This also contributes to students’ grades as instructors award
marks based on the sources used and referencing of the paper.
